June’s Makeup Minutes is all about bringing out the inherent beauty of the Every-Woman. Makeup hints and tips—demystifying products for the Every-Woman to use every day.
In the future I will refer to Every Woman as EW. I love the EW!
I feel that a lot of women are falling into the cracks in the makeup realms. The new moms who don’t have time or money and the Baby Boomers who have been ignored–June’s Makeup Minutes is the go to place!

A lot of women are so frustrated, we all look in the popular magazines and everyone is perfect. We try this or that product and we all look in the mirror and think “It doesn’t look the same as it does in the magazine on me!”—then you feel a great deal of frustration!
That is the power of Photoshop, Makeup Artists, Hairstylist, Wardrobe and fabulous lighting. I call it “Smoke and Mirrors.” That is not the reality of the EW.
So many women get so overwhelmed that they don’t wear any makeup or they wear the makeup that did when they were very young which for some is the Bad Eighties! You get stuck!
Have you ever gone to the makeup counter and was browsing around and a lovely salesperson approaches you trying to sell you something and
You think, “I have tennis shoes older than you!” Or you go into a makeup store and are approached by salespeople that look like Goth drag queens and there 80 shades of pink lipstick that make your eyes roll back in your head.
I am here to help you sort out and demystify and guide the Every-Woman through the maze of makeup.
I will start with the fact that everyone should start the day with the application of sunscreen. I love a tinted sunscreen. It covers some imperfections and gives you protection from the damages of daily exposure to the sun. The sun is one of the things that really age you. Here are some of my favorite sunscreens, La Roche-Posey Anthelios and Young MelaShade (a tinted sunscreen), Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Body Mist. There are so many a good sources for the obtaining the effectiveness of sunscreens—one of the best is Consumer Reports—it has great ratings for many sunscreens, and know that top rated ones are not expensive. The main thing is to USE THEM! I am kind of a pain in the ass about this because I have had three major surgeries because of skin cancer.

There are four items that most women need that could make most Every Woman look great is less than a few minutes.
- Mascara
- Concealer
- Blush
- Lips (balm, gloss, pencil or lipstick)
You don’t have to spend a lot of money of these items. There are department store brands that I love but I also have my favorite drug store brands.
